Introduction:

People began settling and developing civilizations in India about 4500 years ago. Over time people from other places in the ancient world began to migrate and settle in India . These new settlers began blending their customs and traditions with native people already living in the region. This cultural diffusion led to the development of a rich and diverse culture in India. In this unit you will learn about the geography; social structure; religious, cultural, and political achievements of ancient India.
