Rotation 1 - Instruction

1.  Complete the Before Reading section of the “Caste System ~ Body Metaphor Predictions,” on the worksheet provided.
2. In, order to complete the Before Reading section you must predict where of the members of the Caste(Kast)  System  would be located.
3. The body represents the social structure.  The levels of the Caste System are located at the bottom of the chart.
4.Then read the passage entitled “The Hindu Class System.”
5. After finishing the reading complete the After Reading section of the “Caste System ~ Body Metaphor,” on the worksheet provided.
6.  Hit The BACK Arrow when you have finished reading!

Rotation 3 - Instructions

1.Watch the video clip on the lives of the Untouchables.
2. In ancient India the social class system was titled the caste system.
3. The caste system has 4 levels and 1 sub level.
4. Each level had specific laws about diet (the food they ate), clothing, bathing, marriage, and social interactions (how people work, talk, and play with each other).
5. The levels with in the caste system were forbidden from intermarrying (to marry someone not at their caste level). 
6. Create 5 laws for one of the levels of the caste system on the worksheet provided.
